Lithium-Ion Batteries Move the World

Battery mass handling from conveying and feeding to mixing of fine powders: Gericke has the solutions to handle toxic, high value and sensitive battery mass materials in a safe and efficient way! The efficient production of lithium-ion batteries, used for many different purposes, is a key in the drive to meet our climate change promises. Additionally, the reuse of battery components will ensure a sustainable path for high value energy. Gericke equipment is used in different parts of lithium-ion battery production, from the feeding of rotary kilns for raw material manufacture to the storage, conveying, powder transfer and blending necessary for anode and cathode slurry manufacture. Gericke can also provide systems to help in the recovery and the successful recycling of precious rare earth elements.

Vessels for dense phase conveying systems

Size reduction, conveying, feeding, mixing

Our pneumatic conveying systems (such as dense phase conveying and other powder transfer systems) are particularly suitable for the gentle and reliable transportation of battery mass materials. They can be operated with inert gases and are offered with contact surface treatments and coatings as required to avoid metal contact and contamination.

An important process in the lithium-ion battery industry is the mixing of the anode and cathode slurries. Gericke offer a wide range of both batch and continuous mixing solutions ensuring that complete homogeneity is achieved. Gericke can also provide solutions to deliver the same well blended slurries direct to the pouch or cylinder packaging lines.

Safety at all stages

Gericke metering systems ensure a very high consistent quality in the processing of active materials such as NMC, NCA, LFP, LCO, LFP, binders, conductive carbon blacks, graphite, silicone, carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and polyvinylidene fluorides (PVDF).

Since some of the raw materials are hazardous to health, our systems are designed to be dust-tight and fully compliant with the relevant occupational exposure limits.
